I've been making zines since I was fifteen. I'm an old p-rock lady now at 26. It's the thing that stays with me, however else, whatever else I might feel about punk rock, my love-hate object.

slant was the name of my zine (before that it was something unmentionable, so nevermind) until I decided I likedslander better. I hate describing my own zines, but this is on the personal-political tip with writing about Viet Nam, hair, and more. Issues one-six are now GONE FOREVER. I'm not reprinting them.

But I'd rather you get the new zine, anyway; there's a recent (1999) issue of slanderavailable. More about Viet Nam, teaching women's studies, the politics of "revolution," politics of photography and sex toys (not all in the same piece), love, travel, memory and amnesia, and lots more. You can also get this from Pander, Stickfigure, Adore, or Tree of Knowledge (treeofknowledgepress@yahoo.com). It's also available at various stores in the Bay Area, Portland, and New York City.

evolution of a race riot is a compilation zine I edited in 1997 by, for and about people of color in various stages of p-rock writing about race, "identity," and community. I'm proud of this, even though looking back I was way harsh in the introduction, but I think that's understandable. It's also available from Pander, Stickfigure, Tree of Knowledge (treeofknowledgepress@yahoo.com ) and lastly, from me for $3 ppd. You can find it at various stores, sometimes.

The second issue is in the works, and includes a directory of projects (mostly zines) produced by people of color, past and present. It's supposed to be both a historical record (we were here) and a networking tool (we're still here), complete with descriptions and contact information. Reprints and more original essays about race politics are included again.

Please note: I'd really prefer it if you didn't order from me, if only for your own sake. I'm in the middle of preparing for my qualifying exams (for my PhD.) and I'm enormously scatter-brained as a result. You'd get your order filled way, way late.
