On the poppolitics.com forums in response to my essay about the Alcatraz tour, a poster suggested that if I didn't like the prison system, why don't I house and incarcerate criminals in my home?

In Alterity Politics Chris Nealon writes, "No one could reasonably believe that the National Endowment for the Arts, which has a budget slightly less that the U.S. Marine Corps Band, is the major instrument for the sinister redistribution of wealth and the legitimation of homosexuality in America; no one could reasonable believe that women on welfare have more children simply to tack a few dollars a month onto their check; no one could reasonably believe that the L.A. uprisings following the Rodney King verdict were masterminded by secretive African American groups in order to fleece the American government out of urban renewal monies. Of course these things make no 'reasonable' sense, but the anger of resentment doesn't work reasonably."

Recognizing this, how do you respond? (This is a plea for answers.
